More and More
families move each year and odds are that even the most
organized individual may not remember every small detail or
even every item. So here are a few things that you may want to
bring to the top of you moving list.
1. Our
records
-- You might want to obtain copies of your and your family's
medical records, including any dental and vaccine/immunization
information and let’s not forget our family pet records.
A.
School records: - an official copy of your
child's school record may prove handy when registering your
child in his/her new school.
2. Secret
treasures
– Don’t forget those little secrets hidden around the house. If
you've buried any valuables around the house, you’ll want to
ensure you have collected them before you leave. These items
should never be ship and you will want carry valuable items such
as jewelry with you or keep them in a safe deposit box.
3. Phone
numbers
– It doesn’t hurt to pact up those old phone
books from your existing residence to take with you. You will
find that you will have a hard time remembering those frequent
numbers that you called and you might find yourself spending a
small fortune on directory assistance charges to contact old
friends or tie up loose ends.
4. Taken
to the cleaners
-- Remember to collect all items that are being cleaned, stored
or repaired (for example, dry cleaning, shoes, watches, etc.).
Also, remember to return library books, movie rentals and
anything else you may have checked out.
5. My
new address?
– Make sure you keep your new address handy, try putting it in
your wallet or purse. In the rush of preparing for a move, you
might forget your new address -- important information when
forwarding periodicals, mail and credit card bills, as well as
keeping in touch with old friends.
6.
Cleanliness is Next to Godliness
-- Leave out the “Mr Clean, the Mop –n-Glo, the sponges” (you
get the picture) leave those cleaning supplies out for the final
“once-over” before closing the door for good, or if you really
don’t want worries hire a cleaning service and leave the
cleaning to them.
7. The
opener
-- Many people often forget to take the electric garage door
opener out of their automobile before leaving. Remember to leave
the opener for the new residents.
8. It’s
in the Bank–
Did you open a bank account in your new town. This might be a
very wise idea. Think about doing this a month prior to your
move. On occasion, retailers will decline to cash “out-of-town”
checks. (but Master Card or Visa will do the trick)
9. Keys
to success
– Remember the collection of spare house keys. Whether it means
retrieving keys from neighbors or from under the rock next to
the front door, don't forget to gather all sets before you
depart.
